06/12/07 Winds to the east of us , rain and wind to the west of us and sandwiched in between was a beautiful pocked of calm winds, myself and my anglers as we silently approached a school of rolling Bass at our 1st spot of the day. As we worked our way into the basin our first couple of casts gave us nothing but a few casts later we had our 1st encounter of the day when a beautiful 30"+ Bass exploded on the plug boat side and just as quickly as he came he was gone. A few casts later we had our second encounter when another laid up Bass took interest in our top water as it followed it half way to the boat before turning off. With excitement high we worked our way even shallower in to the basin hoping that another Bass lay just around the corner and one cast later it all came together as a beautiful 31" Bass, in 11 inches of water, blew up on the plug and 5 minutes later we had this shallow water beauty boat side for a photo. A very nice way to start a trip. We had steady action throughout the day raising several other Bass on topwater before switching to a subsurface presentation and added to our catches for the day with 5 additional Bass between 18"and 23" along with a few blues in the 2.lb range
