10/18/07 I'm not sure but I think that by the couple of clowns I saw on the water today that the circus must be in town. All joking aside once we shook the other boats dropping in on us we got to business which translated into a roller coaster of action today. Gin clear water had the Bass very weary in the shallows today with a lot of followers on topwater presentation. Aside from those Bass that would nose the plug we raised 6 Bass right off the start today but the clear water in combination with the lack of depth had the Bass on the "one and done" program allowing us one shot at the hook up on top water and would refuse to come back on it so ultimately we ended up with 1 3 lb Blue before we made a move to another area. With the winds kicking up we decided to seek out a bit of protection that would give us good moving water as well and that combination gave us our first Bass of the day which was a nice 24" specimen. With a few too many eyes on us today from other boats we decided to make a run once again jumping the border and headed north to a very remote area that is virtually inaccessible to any boat than a super shallow draft boat. Upon our arrival you could feel that good things were about to happen, good moving water, nice clarity and the right balance of bait. Once I took the blind fold off of today's client we got down to business hitting a nice Bass on our second cast and after a five minute battle we had ourselves a nice 28' Bass boat side. After a quick photo and a healthy release we were back into position to repeat the process. We sat on Bass for the next hour picking up 16 Bass all between 26" and 28", countless strikes and one break off before things shut down at which point we decided to start our lengthy journey back to the dock. |
